With formal training in graphic design and fine art, I continually develop my skills to keep up with advancements in the design industry and related technologies. This includes software training, studying web usability, keeping up to date with search engine developments (and ever changing SEO practises), branding practises, multimedia advances and general design.
It's All About 'Them'
Usability is one point that I take very seriously. It is not enough to design an attractive piece with all the pizazz of a Photoshop whiz. It has to be usable, understandable and practical for as many users as possible. This goes beyond technical compatibility and extends towards how people view sites, how they interact with them and what their expectations are.
Running Backwards
When it comes to designing for print, I use 'Backwards Design'. This involves going to the end of the process and working backwards to the start. The printer is always consulted first, to ascertain the correct formats or other requirements that may be specific to that printer, and work from there. This ensures that the end results matches the client's expectations as closely as possible, and production runs smoothly.
At the End of The Day
The result? Graphic Design That Works. More than aesthetics, it is design that involves the customer to produce real business results.
